Judging #9: The Louvre
Ashley:
Mario: I don't like this at all. I think the photograph is ugly, I think the background is ugly; so if you chose a photo that had a good theme but poor modelling, you were wrong... because the theme is not there. I believe i've seen many artistic photos of you in the past, so this is a huge disappointment. If you chose this for the modelling, you were also wrong because you look fat that arm up here is a modelling that a little kid would do in disneyland and there's no face whatosever. The hair looks crop and ugly. This is so bad. I kind of want to eliminate you just for this. I feel this is a matter of respect for us being so close to the end and people still turning in so bad photographs. It makes the show look wrong and I believe we've tried to teach you more than in any other game you've been. However, many of you turned horrible photographs and one didn't even submit... so you should be grateful for yet another opportunity.
Montana: This photograph is super unflattering. We've seen your body before and this definitely does not do it justice. I'm surprised that with something like this you'll create movement to make you look wider and then with the angle of your hips is not good. I find that you did have something that was artistic but had you executed this better it would have been great. I love the way the arms are positioned but that's about it other than that the rest of the shot is not good for me at all. I wish you found a more artistic photograph that was flattering, this really doesn't have those elements perfected yet.
Zac: Sorry Ashley, not a fan. Your proportions look completely off in this and I don't know if it's the quality of the photograph or the modeling or what it is. You look scary and I feel uncomfortable looking at this. I'm not really getting the art here either, sorry.
Candice:
Mario: I find the photo to be artistic and I, personally, consider photographs to be a canvas and an art. This is good. It is not great but I believe you're giving me cool modelling postures and fierce eyes; with the photo also being artistic. I believe you were one of the few, if not the only one; that merely accomplished the challenge. So congratulations Candice and thank you.
Montana: There's some elements of this that are artistic but some that just aren't. I like your eyes in this they do have a strength and I like the way you're trying to show us the neck while showing off the gown as well. I find that it does look like the gown is swallowing you and you seem very stiff but my least favorite part of this is the hand/arm it is just so awkward.
Zac: This is alright for me Candice. I like your face in this, but other than that we just see the white dress thing and there isn't that much modeling in this shot. Good thing to keep in mind, but I can see the art in this and it's a nice picture.
Edita:
Montana: I want to go back in time and lower everyone's scores because this is the only 10 of the season! I find that this is the perfect photograph for the challenge and I just love it! This is artistic fashion that definitely shows off a model being art in her photograph. Of course that's what Solve Sundsbo is use to doing, this is perfection and if I could give it an 11 I would!
Mario: Thank you Edita for putting your effort. I believe you were the only one this week that thought about her picture, that didn't went with merely the first thing that crossed her eyes. Thank you for telling us with SCREAMS, that you want to win this competition. Matter of fact, it is very probable that you will. This is a great photograph. It is artistic, it has body posture for months and your face looks awesome. This is close to perfect; i'm not particularly enticed by how artistic it is, because i wouldn't consider it art; meaning, i wouldn't hang it on my living room. However, I can see its artistic features, I can see why people would see it as artistic, and if i saw it on someone else's living room i would appreaciate how artistic it was. Thank you again. You're on your way.
Zac: I absolutely love this shot Edita! It's SO fitting for the challenge and it's just flawless. Amazing pose, great effect, really artistic. The only complaint I have is that I asked for your face to be visible week after week and again we're not getting it. Don't get me wrong, I do love your face in this shot. Next week, just show me more though.
Ginta:
Montana: Yeah I do find that you got into the religious art that might go into the Sistine Chapel. I wish you captured more life in your shot especially in the eyes. I'm not drawn to the shot, it needed some more pizazz as a model but it does capture more of the art direction but you needed to integrate a bit more model to bring fashion to art in this.
Mario: I find this to be creepy and hidious. I've been telling all of you guys this, but i'm going to repeat it: This is a modelling competition. When you don't find a photo that has theme, modelling and face together, it is better to have less theme but more modelling. Given that this was an open theme, I reject that you decided to go with something that was cliché about the theme and with such bad modelling, instead of finding a better picture of you, where your modelling could be showcased and at the same time some artistic creative characteristics could be rescued. The theme is not enough for me, because this is not art for me, it is a painting that I would buy at a place with tacky furnitures and popular frames. There's no execution that goes well with me. No modelling i can even critique. And the face? it scares me... you look ugly. Sorry. This is B.A.D.
Zac: This is good Ginta. I immediately get the link with the theme here, and while it's kind of photoshopped/fabricated and all and hence isn't my favorite picture per se, it's good enough for the challenge. Your face is pretty strong in this and I like that the focus is more on your face than on the other details in the shot.
Vlada:
Montana: I know you're famous for the porcelain doll type look but this is a bit strange. I do see that maybe you're trying to be a statue but it's definitely creepy. I'm not sure if I see this truly as artistic as I would have liked, its definitely more mannequin and I find you could have used a shot that showcased more fashion as art than this. You've been doing well but this is not great but there is something about your modeling that I do like in the eyes.
Zac: Sorry Vlada, I am not fond of this picture. You can have other models in your shot, but you really need to outshine them. Your expression and pose are so awkward to looks at that the other model draws my attention more. It's just not a great shot of you and I don't even really see the art.
Mario: another letdown. i don't like this, i don't think this is appreciative art... it is just an ok picture. Your body and face are telling me some stuff, but not enough. I do think you were better than some, but this is not, by any chance, an OK photo for this point of the game. This is unacceptable and if you don't do something about it, you'll be next. I believe your chances of winning this game are slipping off your hands.
